Mac OS X Panther PPP setup
Click on the Apple menu then choose System Preferences

Click on the Network icon in the "System Preferences" pane.

Select Automatic from the "Location:" menu. Switch from the "Network Status" screen by
choosing Internal Modem from the "Show" menu
Type in the following information on the "PPP" settings screen.
Service Provider: NetDotCom
Account Name: username@netdotcom.com (must be type exactly as given by NetDotCom)
Password: Your NetDotCom password (Will look like a bunch of dots so type carefully)
Telephone Number: Local NetDotCom dial-up number
Alternate Number: If several dialup numbers are local you can type a second one in here
If you check "Save password", your computer will remember your password for you automatically.

Click the PPP Options button.
Under "Session Options", adjust your system to match the recommended settings shown below. Leave the "Advanced Options" as shown. Click the OK button to return to the previous screen.

Click on the TCP/IP tab to verify proper TCP/IP settings.
Verify that Configure IPv4: is set to "Using PPP".

Click on the Proxy tab. Verify your system matches the settings shown below.

Click on the Modem tab.
Verify that your system matches the settings shown below
Modem: Usually some kind of Apple Internal Modem
Enable error correction and compression in modem "checked"
Wait for dial tone before dialing "checked"
Dialing Normally set to "Tone"
Sound "On" provides audible feedback of the dialing and connection sequence
Show modem status in menu bar Places a menu near the clock at the top of the screen which will let you connect and disconnect

Click Apply Now to save.
