Before you can use NetDotCom to connect to the Internet you must have a NetDotCom Internet Access Account. Follow the instructions below to setup Windows XP for use with NetDotCom.
Windows XP has a Connection Wizard that guides you step by step. Start the wizard and follow along with the steps outlined below.
To start the wizard, click on Start, then Run

In the Open space, type inetwiz then click the OK button.

Select Connect using my phone line, then click the Next button to continue.

If there is an existing Internet connection you will be asked if you want to create a new connection or use an existing one. Choose Create a new dial-up connection then click Next.
Otherwise skip to the next section.

Type in one of the phone numbers listed below, then click Next. You can also use NetDotComs' Number Finder to locate access numbers in other areas.
IMPORTANT:
Please use a number that is a local call from your location. If you do not know which number to select, please call NetDotCom for assistance or check with your telephone company operator.
Dial "0" (zero) and ask the operator if there is a charge to dial the number selected. IMPORTANT! NetDotCom will not be responsible if your choice results in toll
charges appearing of your phone bill.

Type in your NetDotCom User name and Password in the appropriate spaces below, then click Next. For security reasons your password will show up as dots so please type carefully. Please type in all small
letters without any spaces or punctuation marks or symbols. Make sure all three check boxes are checked.

Type in NetDotCom for the name of the connection then click Next.

Click Yes to setup your Internet mail account then click Next.

If there is an existing e-mail account you will be asked if you want to create a new account or use an existing one. Choose Create a new Internet mail account then click
Next.

The 'Display Name' is is used to personalize your outgoing e-mail. People you send e-mail to will see your e-mail as being 'From' the name typed in below. Note: This is not the same as your e-mail address. Click Next to proceed.

Type in your e-mail address exactly as given to you by NetDotCom. Normally it should be in all small letters, however you can use capital letters to make it easier to read. No spaces
are permitted. Click Next to proceed.

Next, the Incoming and Outgoing mail server names need to be typed in. The following table indicates the proper mail server name based on your NetDotCom
e-mail address. After the information is entered, click Next to proceed.

In the "Account name" space, please type in your e-mail address and password exactly as given to you by NetDotCom. This must be typed in all small letters
without any spaces. Any mistakes will prevent you from retrieving e-mail sent to you. The 'check boxes' should be selected as shown. Click Next to proceed.

The final screen completes the process. Click Finish to complete and close the wizard.

This completes the initial setup for Windows XP. After the connection is created the Connect screen is displayed. This will allow you to connect to NetDotCom and the Internet. If you want to connect at this time click on the Dial
button otherwise click on the Cancel button.
IMPORTANT: Before you can send e-mail you must change a setting in Outlook Express, the email program included in Windows XP. This setting is not configured properly during the Internet Connection Wizard you just completed.
Start Outlook Express
Click on the Tools menu then click on Accounts

Shown below is the Internet Accounts window. If there is a mail account for your old ISP (and you do not intend to keep this account) highlight the old account as shown below then click the
Remove button.
Click on pop.netdotcom.com then click the Properties button.

Click on the Servers tab. In the highlighted section click in the check box next to "My Server requires authentication". Then click on Apply,
then OK.

When the Internet Accounts window is redisplayed, click on the Close button.
