 Enable SMTP Server Authentication in Outlook Express Version 5 & 6

Start Outlook Express

Click on the Tools menu then click on Accounts

Shown below is the Internet Accounts window. If there is a mail account for your old ISP (and you do not intend to keep this account) highlight the old account as shown below then click the Remove button.

Click on pop.netdotcom.com then click the Properties button.

Click on the Servers tab. In the highlighted section click in the check box next to "My Server requires authentication". Then click on Apply, then OK

When the Internet Accounts window is redisplayed, click on the Close button.

This completes the changes necessary to Outlook Express.
