 Windows 95 and 98 Network Control Panel Settings


If you are having intermittent issues when connecting to NetDotCom please check the setting listed below. These are the optimal settings for standalone computers running Windows 95 & 98.

Verify your system matches the settings detailed on each screen.

Click on the Start button, select Settings then Control Panel.

Double-click on the Network icon. 

 

At minimum you should see the following entries listed. Client for Microsoft Networks or Windows Family Logon may also be listed.

All other entries should be removed unless your computer is part of a LAN (local area network). Please be sure you have your original Windows CD as changes made here may require files from the CD.

 

Click on TCP/IP or TCP/IP > Dial-Up Adapter then click on the Properties button to display TCP/IP Properties. The first screen displayed is the IP Address tab. Please verify the your system matches the settings shown.

 

Next click on each tab shown to verify that your computer is configured exactly as shown here.

After you are finished verifying all settings, click on the OK button to return to the Network window.

Click OK to close the Network window.

If changes were made Windows may need to copy files from the Windows CD and then reboot.
